Historical Background
BICOL MERCHANT MARINE COLLEGE, INC. (BMMCI) was founded on February 1993 primarily to offer maritime education. Its opening was driven by the growing strategic concern of the country in the
development of maritime industry for the global standardization. BMMCI is the only maritime institution in the province of Sorsogon committed to produce graduates who are competetive and marketable in the local and global shipping business.

- Proficient delivery system with the adoption of innovative teaching methodologies applicable to different situations.
- Promotion of active participation of all stakeholders;
- Involvement in all relevant activities;
- Continuous establishment of industry linkages;
- Upgrading employees' credentials;
- Enhancement of infrastructure and facilities;
- Development of quality research and extension program.

OBJECTIVES for A.Y. 2023-2024
- Achieve 75% compliance to the Institutional Development Plan for the current academic year
- Achieve 100% compliance to the applicable statutory and regulatory standards and requirements.
- Attain 75% customer satisfaction rate.
- Attain 80% deployment rate of students with Completed Classroom Instructions (CCI) per academic year.
- Attain 100% active participation of students in extracurricular activities through the leadership of BSC and Club Officers.
- Establish one (1) additional maritime linkage for the apprenticeship and job placement of students/graduates.
- Attain faculty and staff development goal at 70%.
- Conduct one (1) faculty research per department / program and at least 3 student research per academic year.
- Conduct at least one (1) extension based from the result of research conducted by faculty of student, or as required by CMO.
- Achieve 100% Compliance to health standards.
